As a Native New Yorker my love for fitness started back in junior high school. I was never on a sports team; however I did enjoy working out with the athletes. In high school I was in karate, weight lifting and step dancing. Being underestimated was the fuel to my fire back then. Now my fuel is to shine my bright light to everyone that is open to change.
Fitness is more than looking good!
Fitness is about building confidence!
Fitness is about self-determination
Fitness is about being a better you mentally and physically.
This is all that fitness has done for me. Now don’t me wrong, there will be times where I don’t want to do a damn thing but believe me 20% is better than 0%. You don’t always have to be at 100%. As long as you push each day that means your moving in the right direction.
Where did I get this passion from? While in college working on my Associates Degree, I was a home health aide. I enjoyed helping my Fab over 50, seeing my clients keep pushing gave me life! Witnessing them get stronger with the daily routines I created which included long walks and slight physical therapy exercises was an inspiration in itself. Once I graduated with my Associates Degree in Health and Education I had this thought why not get the fab 50 in the gym? Who will take the time to train them, strengthen them and make them feel good? I was that person! I love working out and I love helping my Fab over 50. Showing them that they can do anything and only need someone to believe in them.
This led me to the path of obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science it sounded like the perfect fit for me. Now here’s a fun fact, in high school I hated everything about science. However,I fell in love studying the human body, I fell in love with the way fitness can help the body do amazing things. I wanted to share this knowledge the best way I can with my fellow people of all ages. Since graduating with my Bachelor’s degree I have expanded my clientele to include all ages, genders, shapes and sizes. I also offer pre and post natal personal training. I spent six (6) years as a volunteer at Shape NYC that experience was so valuable teaching me how to run my future work out classes. After leaving there, I was a personal trainer for two (2) years at Blink Fitness where my audience and clientele grew tremendously. In my spare time I enjoy yoga, swimming, lifting and I have a love for arts and crafts particularly hat and candle making!
